16+ years of experience as a hands-on project leader for Mainframe hardware and  Operating System software, with a focus on  IBM’s z/OS.

Skills/Required Years of Experience:

16+ yrs. Mainframe Operating Systems Programming experience, intimately familiar with z/OS structure and flow, key parameters, and security.

16+ yrs. installing, using SMP/e, customizing, tuning, and performing capacity planning for Mainframe z/OS and associated products. (Required 16 Years)
16+ yrs. leading projects, ensuring they are in compliance with established standards/procedures (Required 16 Years)
16+ yrs. Diagnosing and resolving errors in major operating systems and subsystem components (e.g., z/OS, VTAM, TCP/IP, JES2, z/VM, and z/Linux) (Required 16 Years)
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience (Required)
16+ Years Mainframe Storage Management experience, intimately familiar with SMS, TMS (CA1), Hitachi Disk Subsystems (Highly desired 16 Years)
16+ yrs. installing, customizing, tuning, and performing capacity planning for Mainframe z/VM and/or z/Linux and associated products. (Highly desired 16 Years)

Complete Description

OCTO Mainframe Support Services monitors and trouble-shoots all of our mainframe hardware devices, network infrastructure and our district agencies host applications. Mainframe Support is responsible for monitoring 2 mainframe platforms. Mainframe Support must ensure seamless, non-disruptive system maintenance activities to minimize impact on our customer’s production environments and to ensure adherence to each agencies service level commitments. OCTO is looking for a hands on Project Leader for the support of Mainframe hardware and Operating systems with a focus on the IBM z/OS.

Responsibilities:
1. Evaluates, plans, installs and maintains the z/OS and z/VM Operating systems and related software products.
2. Develops operational standards; may coordinate the conversion of existing systems to enable exploitation or   coexistence with new computer hardware an/or software
3. Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities.
4. Maintains and analyzes system performance, identifies trends and potential problems, and recommends solutions and alterations based on analyses. Identifies requirements for additional resources, or changes in current system components.
5. Provides training for system products and procedures.
6. Troubleshoots problems.

Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates IT project management, engineering, maintenance, QA, and risk management.
2. Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities.
3. Develops technical applications to support users.
4. Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems.
5. Provides training for system products and procedures.
6. Performs application upgrades.
7. Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases, real-time network and serial data communications, and real-time graphics and logic applications.
8. Troubleshoots problems.
9. Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures.
