Complete Description:

This position performs the copper/fiber splicing interconnection, quality verification, fault location, and all related outside plant installation and maintenance functions involving DC-Net’s fiber ringed architectural platform.

Required Skills/Experience:

Performs on-the-job splicing, testing, and fault locating in IP networks (Required 7 Years)
Designs & installs building cabling infrastructure (Required 7 Years)
Expert splicer with all types of fiber cabling (Required 7 Years)
Ability to work in aerial, underground, and building venues (Required 7 Years)
Able to carry 50 pounds (Required)
Able to resolve fiber/cabling failures/impairments (Required 5 Years)
Highly experienced in District of Columbia aerial and underground infrastructure (Highly desired 7 Years)
Knowledgeable in VOIP deployment transmission standards (Required 4 Years)
Full knowledge of ANSI standards related to telecom infrastructure codes (Required 5 Years)
Experienced in lead technician and supervisory roles (Highly desired 4 Years)
Is proficient in software used for cabling and circuit inventory (Highly desired 5 Years)
Reads and interprets ARC GIS, OSP blueprints, conduit drawings, aerial plats (Highly desired 5 Years)
Proficient in Word, Visio, Excel (Highly desired 5 Years)
Exposure to IP/MPLS (Highly desired 5 Years)
Highly experienced with general aerial and underground infrastructure (Required 7 Years)
Willing to work any tour of duty, overtime, night, and weekends (Required)
